Obviously we have dozens of options everywhere we go for hotels, but I wanted to do a little digging about relative hotel prices before and after Labor Day
First of all, holy crap are hotels expensive.
8/22-8/29
The Best Western is $467/night. For anywhere decent, we're probably looking at $300/night.
8/28-9/4
For comparison, the Best Western is $261/night. We, maybe, maybe can get a decent place for $200/night.
9/3-9/10
The Best Western is $200/night. Maybe find a decent place for $150/night.
I did not look at VRBO for Iceland. We could also consider staying outside the city centre and renting a car to get to sites and using public transit to get downtown.
There are a lot of small guest houses/hostels that are way cheaper than the big hotels, but then you're sharing bathrooms with other guests and stuff.
