Spain Itinerary Update: The Back Up Plan

Just like when you decided to marry me....
If we decide we want to forgo the big cities in favor of smaller ones, we could do this:

Lisbon: Saturday October 19 to Sunday October 20. We take the night train on Sunday night

Salamanca: Monday October 21 to Wednesday October 23.

Cacares: Wednesday October 23 to Friday October 25.

Madrid: Friday October 25 to Tuesday October 29.

Barcelona: Tuesday October 29 to Sunday November 3.

I haven't totally figured out the logistics, but it appears there is no direct train from Salamanca to Cacares. You either have to rent a car, take the train into and out of Madrid, or take a bus. It would be about a 2.5 hour drive, the train thing would probably take the full day, it's somewhere between 3-5 hours between Salamanca and Madrid and Cacares and Madrid.

So, maybe this plan is a bust. We could do without Cacares. Or add in Valencia or Zaragoza between Madrid and Barcelona.
