Seville Hotels

Non-fancy hotels need not apply.
Casa Imperial, kind of a hotel, kind of a B&B. Better brush up on your Spanish to read the site. Not terribly expensive, like $130/night.

Alfonso XIII Hotel seems to be the fanciest in town. You'll love it, but before you look, keep in mind it's $306/night if we pre-pay and that doesn't include breakfast and internet is extra.

The AlmaSevilla is a steal at $250/night. No breakfast. Free wifi. Fitness room. Might be worth it just for that rooftop deck.

The Gran Melia is about $220/night if we pay in advance. Free wifi. Fitness room. No breakfast.

We can stay at the regular ole' Melia for as little as $300/total if we pre-pay and don't get breakfast. Prices increase for better rooms, breakfast, etc. This is further south along the river than the other places, closer to the University and south of the Puento del Telma (the southern bridge of the historic district). Doesn't seem too far from the main attractions. Close to the river, seems fairly easy to get to/from the train station. It's near Plaza de Espana, did Frommer's say we're going to get mugged there?

I'm not too worried about location in general. Seville seems pretty small/walkable. I think the furthest we'd have to walk it about 2 km, or a little over a mile from the hotel to the train station. There are buses and trams too.

  1. The Alfonso is amazing, but I can't pay that much money for a hotel. I'm not really closer to finding a hotel that I love, but I did discover this little gem.

  2. Are we taking the kids there next year?

  3. Three realistic options that won't break the bank. No sense in paying big bucks for a hotel we won't be in much.

Hotel Convento La Gloria - 340 Euro for 3 nights (Rick Steves recommends)
Hotel Monte Triana - 306 Euro for 3 nights
Monte Carmelo Hotel - 273 for 3 nights

All include breakfast. I don't believe any have a fitness center. The last 2 are on the opposite side of the river from the historic centre, but walkable. Similar to the Hotel Julian.

    1. So that's about $450, $400, and $350 for the 3 nights?

I feel like I've read mixed things about the opposite side of the river, like it gets a little sketchy, might want to research a bit.

Didn't particularly like any of my suggestions? I suppose I don't need a fitness center. I don't need to spend all my time on vacation exercising. But, you know how I am. I like to get a good sweat most days. And when I do, I'd rather jog as long as my knees don't get achy.

  4. I like your suggestions. I was trying to find someplace closer to our $100/night goal. I would prefer a fitness center as well.

  5. I think I'm good with the Melia Sevilla here. It's cheaper and a good location. What do you think? I can't get myself to splurge.

    1. Makes sense to me. Do you want to upgrade to a room with a view or get breakfast included or something to make it a little treat?

  6. I may be able to get some decent rates through my work travel agent. Want to take a quick look tonight and make a decision?
