Took a train ride up to Segovia today. It's an old city 50 miles or so northwest of Madrid. Getting the right train there was an adventure. It always is for us, but it worked out. Lesson: don't blindly trust Frommers. Do your own research
Segovia is a medieval city with the usual: cith walls, castle, big ole church. Sometimes you feel like "seen one, seen them all" but this one was pretty unique. I'm glad we went. The old town was the usual tourist stuff on the Main Street, but a real life town just off of it. The castle was more like a castle out of a fairy tale than the usual utilitarian castles you see. The vistas were also amazing. Panoramic views of the mountains and countryside.
The biggest treat was the 2,000 year old Roman aqueduct that runs through town. That's something you don't see every day. I totally got my nerd in with that.
