Barcelona Rentals

http://www.oh-barcelona.com/

Here's the site that Jason used when getting a rental in Barcelona.  It's pretty cool.  I'm not sure we need to do a rental in Barcelona, but nice to have options.

  1. Do we have a preference on which part of Barcelona we stay? L'Exiample seems to be where the majority of the hotels are. I found a nice hotel in that area (1 bed) using this site for a little over $600 for the 5 nights.

  2. I read Chicken and Lisa's Rick Steves book and came up with an area I thought seemed nice in Barcelona. Not right by Ramblas, but a little outside. L-Exiamble sounds right, but I need to look at where it is, transport to/from airport/train station, etc.

More importantly, we're staying in a hotel in Barcelona? I thought we were doing hotels in Lisbon and Seville and apartments in Madrid and Barcelona?

  3. I meant to say a rental, not a hotel. I found a rental in that area for a little over $600 for the 5 nights.

  4. There are two in what appears to be this complex. A 10 minute walk from the Passeij de Gracia stop.

    1. Looks nice. Good location to sites, probably a Metro transfer or two from the train station. I didn't see a washer in the picture, but it says it has one. Prior to booking (this apartment or another), we should let the owner know about our early check out, make sure we arrange for that up front. I assume we can just leave the keys and lock up.

  5. I agree that L'Eixample is where we want to be. Close to city center, but not right in it, so maybe a little bigger, cleaner, nicer, quieter.

Looks like the L5 comes out of the train station if we're thinking about how to get to the apartment. There are also some trams, but I haven't tried to understand that system yet.

I already posted about getting to the airport.

The hills by Montjuic look like an awesome place to jog.

  6. This one will be about $425 total for the 5 nights. Good location, but we have to share the kitchen.

    1. This might be too south/west from where you want to stay, but it's about $100/night and easy to get from the train station and to the airport, and the owner looks kinda crazy/kinda fun.

  7. A little more than our $100/night, but you know I'm a sucker for a good beer-drinking deck.

  8. I think this one is bigger than our condo.

Ok, I should look more in line with our price range. I'm getting side tracked.

  9. Last one for now, but it actually seems pretty nice. Short walk to downtown. nice view, easy access from the train/to the airport, king sized bed so we don't have to touch each other.

    1. I love the host's sense of humor with her photo captions. I'd say this one or the one with the kinda crazy looking host. The one with the good beer drinking deck is euro sheeeeeeeeek and I love it, but we've got to watch the $$$.

  10. So we are debating between these 2?

    1) https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/912414

    2) https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/467138

#2 is a little cheaper. #1 is a little closer to public transit. Otherwise, they both look pretty nice to me, and the hosts look pretty helpful. I'm not really sure how we decide. Any other criteria we should look at? I'm kind of leaning towards #1, but I'm not exactly sure why. #2 looks fine as well.

  11. I'm leaning towards #1 as well. Let's go with that. Nothing else needed.
